Aus der Kilchoman Distillery auf der schottischen Insel Islay kommt eine neue Jahrgangsabfüllung: der Kilchoman 2010 Vintage. Dieser Single Malt Whisky wurde im Jahr 2010 aus stark getorftem Gerstenmalz mit einem Phenolgehalt von 50 ppm destilliert. Die über neun Jahre andauernde Reifung fand zu 85 Prozent in Ex-Bourbon-Barrels und zu 15 Prozent in Ex-Oloroso-Sherry-Butts statt. Aus insgesamt 45 vermählten Fässern konnten 15.000 Flaschen abgefüllt werden. Das Alkoholvolumen liegt bei 48 Prozent. Sowohl auf eine Kältefiltration als auch auf eine Färbung wurde wie gewohnt verzichtet.
„These proportions of bourbon and sherry cask maturation has always worked well for our spirit, it allows the unique distillery characteristics of maritime peat smoke and citrus sweetness to flourish whilst the addition of a few particularly good sherry casks add extra layers of cooked fruits, richness and mixed of spices“, sagt Anthony Wills, Gründer und Master Distiller der Kilchoman Distillery.
In Kürze erreicht der Kilchoman 2010 Vintage den gut sortierten Fachhandel. Weltweit werden 15.000 Flaschen auf den Markt kommen. Wie viele Exemplare ihren Weg nach Deutschland finden werden, ist nicht bekannt. Ebenso fehlt eine unverbindliche Preisempfehlung.
