Die Remarkable Stills Series der Loch Lomond Distillery in den schottischen Highlands ist komplett. Die dritte und letzte Rarität der Reihe ist der Loch Lomond 47 Jahre. Destilliert wurde dieser ungetorfte Single Malt Scotch Whisky im Jahr 1974 ausschließlich in den Straight Neck Pot Stills der Brennerei. Anschließend ging es für 43 Jahre in Refill-American-Oak-Casks – typischerweise Synonym für Ex-Bourbonfässer. Weitere vier Jahre durfte der Single Malt in Second-Fill-Oloroso-Sherry-Casks nachreifen. Das Abfüllen nahm Loch Lomond mit einem Alkoholvolumen von 44,3 Prozent, ohne Kältefiltration und ohne Farbstoff vor. Es entstanden 200 Flaschen.
Den offiziellen Tasting-Notes zufolge entfaltet der Loch Lomond 47 Jahre einen Geruch nach Toffee, Orange und grünen Apfel mit floralen Noten von Rosen, dann Sultaninen, Zimt und Muskatnuss. Geschmacklich zunächst ein seidiges Mundgefühl, Karamell und Vanille mit knackigem grünen Apfel, Melone und Kiwi sowie floralen Noten von Holunderblüte. Der Abgang sei lang mit anfänglich geschmolzenem braunen Zucker, dann mit den Mund wässrig machender Limette und sanft wärmender Zimtwürze.

Ab sofort ist der Loch Lomond 47 Jahre als finales Release No. 3 der Remarkable Stills Series im ausgewählten Fachhandel erhältlich. Wie viele der 200 Exemplare ihren Weg nach Deutschland gefunden haben, verbleibt im Dunkeln. Eine unverbindliche Preisempfehlung hat uns nicht erreicht.
